1867 - M1A1 Tank Master Gunner

THIS MOS IS MAINTAINED IN THE MOS MANUAL BECAUSE IT APPEARS IN THE RECORDS OF MARINES STILL ON ACTIVE DUTY.
The M1A1 Tank Master Gunner is the subject matter expert in the employment and training of all weapon systems organic to a tank battalion.
Tank Master Gunners are special staff officers responsible to the commanders at all levels and staff in the planning, development, conduct, evaluation and monitoring of all live fire and simulations training program.
They are responsible for the unit’s ammunition allocation, forecasting, scheduling of ranges and the certification of evaluators who assist in their duties.
They advise and mentor the officers and marines of the unit in all applicable mechanical, doctrinal, and conceptual weaponeering and training matters as required to improve the effectiveness and proficiency of the command.
Additional duties include tank platoon master gunner ISO of a MEU, provide input in new weapon systems, gear research and development, coordinate new equipment training (NET), participate in applicable course curriculum review boards (CCRB), new curriculum development for gunnery and tank related tasks and vetting of draft tank training and readiness manual (T&R).
Prerequisites
Must be a Sergeant or above.
Must have vision correctable to 20/20.
Must have normal color vision.
Must have completed the M1A1 Marine Armor Crewmember Course (A03TBM2) at Ft Moore, GA and obtain the PMOS of 1812.
Must have attended Marine Tank Commanders Course (MTCC) (A030MZM).
This prerequisite is waiverable for SMCR Marines.
Must have qualified Tank Table VI as Tank Commander within the preceding 12 months.
Must have a minimum GT score of 105 (waivered to 100 based on qualified throughput availability).
TIS requirements are no less than 4 years and must have at least 24 months left in their contract upon completion of the course.
Security clearance requirements: must be eligible for a secret clearance.
Must be certified by the Battalion Master Gunner (BMG) that the Marine has passed the Vehicle Commander’s Gunnery Skills Test (GST) as stated verbatim in the reference within three months or 90 days prior to attending the M1A1 Abrams Master Gunner Course Must have 6 months experience as a Tank Commander.

Must have completed the legacy M1A1 Master Gunner Course (A03TBH2) or complete the M1A2 SEP Master Gunner Course (A03H5T2) at Ft Moore, GA
