1869 - Senior Armor SNCO

Summary

THIS IS AN OBSOLETE MOS, NO LONGER IN USE IN THE TABLE OF ORGANIZATION OF THE MARINE CORPS.

THIS MOS IS MAINTAINED IN THE MOS MANUAL BECAUSE IT APPEARS IN THE RECORDS OF MARINES STILL ON ACTIVE DUTY.

The Senior Armor SNCO serves as the senior enlisted technical and tactical advisor to the commander on tank operations.

Additionally, he advises the commander on the condition, care and economical use of unit resources and equipment.

The Senior Armor SNCO coordinates and supervises all aspects of the platoon, company or battalion operations, logistics and the administrative requirements that affect unit readiness.

He assists with the development of the unit’s training plan and management of the unit readiness program to ensure all task support the unit’s core and assigned mission essential tasks.

The Senior Armor SNCO serves as the principal mentor to all marines in the armor community.

Prerequisites

Must hold the PMOS of 1812, Armor Marine.

Marines seeking an MOS lateral move (LAT move) to the 1869 MOS are required to meet all prerequisites and requirements of the 1812 PMOS.

Security requirement: secret security clearance eligibility.

Requirements

Gunnery sergeants: successful completion of the Maneuver Senior Leader’s Course (MSL-C) (A03KKX3) prior to being assigned the 1869 PMOS.

Master Sergeants: successful completion of the GCE Operations Specialist Course (N30RCC1 or N30KBC1); or successful completion of the Operations and Tactics Instructor Chief Course (M09HE35) prior to being assigned the 1869 PMOS.

Master Gunnery Sergeants: successful completion of the Operations and Tactics Instructor Course (M09HE35 or M09KYD5) prior to being assigned the 1869 PMOS.
