2143 - Amphibious Combat Vehicle (ACV) Technician

Summary

The ACV Technician performs basic automotive duties including the inspection, maintenance, and repair of the ACV family of vehicles.

The ACV Technician performs basic shop administrative actions utilizing technical manuals and automated information systems.

The ACV Technician can also operate the ACV FOV in support of combat and/or garrison operations.

The ACV Technician will perform operator and field-level maintenance and maintain/manage associated tools and equipment, of which licensed to operate.

Accordingly, they will employ land navigation techniques and must be knowledgeable with the operation of radios and weapon systems when mounted on the vehicle during tactical operations.

The Gunnery Sergeant to corporal level supervises, and performs various duties incident to the inspection, maintenance, and repair of the automotive and RWS/Turret systems of the ACV.

In addition, ACV Technicians prepare, maintain, and supervise shop maintenance and management programs, and coordinate maintenance and recovery operations according to grade and position.

Prerequisites

Must possess an MM score of 105 or higher.

Must have WS-B water survival qualification.

Must have normal vision to include color, acuity, field of vision and depth perception.

The examinee will not be disqualified for a vehicle operator license because of color blindness or depth perception.

However, if color blindness or depth perception is indicated, he or she will be given additional training, which will enable him or her to drive safely.

Must have normal color vision.

Must meet initial strength test standards associated with PEF assignments as listed in the glossary (pg. xiv) prior to shipping to recruit training.

Must meet MOS classification standards as listed in the glossary (pg. xiv) prior to graduating from recruit training.

No more than one yes in the blocks contained in section 6 on the physical fitness inquiry for motor vehicle operators form (OF-345) is acceptable.

Requirements

Complete the Amphibious Combat Vehicle Basic Repairer Course (M10AH33), Camp Pendleton, CA.

Complete the Amphibious Combat Vehicle Field Level Maintenance New Equipment Training 2.0, licensed by the program manager.

Entry level and lateral move Marines must complete the Amphibious Combat Vehicle Technician Course for assignment as a primary MOS.

Must complete the submerged vehicle egress trainer (SVET) qualifications prior to completion of the Amphibious Combat Vehicle Technician Course.

For Marines that are trained on an amphibious combat vehicle in the legacy field level maintenance new equipment training are required to complete the evaluation program signed off on by the officer in charge of the training transition unit in order to be awarded the 2143 PMOS.
