2834 - Advanced Extremely High Frequency (AEHF) Technician

Summary

The Advanced Extremely High Frequency (AEHF) Technician MOS identifies maintenance personnel that have received training to repair and support the AEHF satellite communications system, Secure Mobile Anti-Jam Reliable Tactical Terminal (SMART-T).

Typical duties include tuning and aligning systems, adjusting audio or data levels, using test equipment to make checks on circuit quality, diagnosing equipment faults to the component level, and replacing faulty parts or components.

These Marines, submit field service requests, conduct technical research and order repair parts to restore system to operational status, and assist in the employment and installation of the terminals within system capabilities.

Marines in this MOS may be assigned to a BIC (within their occupational field) that has been coded with one or more DoD Cyber Workforce Framework (DCWF) work role codes.

This MOS will only be assigned to Marines holding primary MOS 2831 or 2862 and that are assigned to Division Communications Company or Communications Battalion in support of this critical low density system.

Prerequisites

Security requirement: secret security clearance eligibility.

Must hold primary MOSs 2831 or 2862.

Requirements

Complete the Digital Wideband Technician Course (DWTC) (A09DPG1), Ft Gordon, GA.

Marines must have 12 months obligated service remaining upon graduation from the Digital Wideband Technician Course.

This obligated service must be obtained prior to execution of TEMINS (DUINS) or TAD (DUINS) orders to the course.
