3531 - Motor Vehicle Operator

Summary

Motor Vehicle Operators inspect, operate, and manage medium and heavy wheeled vehicles in a variety of terrain and weather conditions to transport troops, supplies, and equipment in support of combat and/or garrison operations.

Motor Vehicle Operators perform operator/crew level maintenance, maintain required forms, and manage associated tools and equipment of the medium and heavy fleet.

Motor Vehicle Operators are only responsible for the management and oversite the operations of light tactical vehicles.

Employs land navigation techniques and must be knowledgeable with the operation of radios and weapons when they are mounted on the vehicle.

Responsible for convoy security and the tactical employment of the 7.62mm medium machine-gun, the 50-cal machine-gun, and 40mm heavy machine-gun, and their support vehicle during convoy operations.

Responsible for the organizations licensing requirements and program management.

Prerequisites

Must pass an audiogram hearing test.

Must possess a valid state driver’s license.

Minimum height for vehicle operation is 60 inches.

Maximum height for vehicle operation is 75 inches.

Must possess an EL score of 85 or MM score of 85 or higher.

Past driving record, evidenced by a search of a motor vehicle records check, reveals no active state driver’s license suspensions or revocations.

No more than one yes in the blocks contained in section 6 on the Physical Fitness Inquiry for Motor Vehicle Operators Form (OF-345) is acceptable.

Must have normal vision to include color, acuity, field of vision and depth perception.

The examinee will not be disqualified for a vehicle operator’s license because of color blindness.

However, if color blindness is indicated, he or she will be given additional training on traffic light sequence, observation of other traffic, and so forth, which will enable him or her to drive safely.

Requirements

Complete the Basic Motor Vehicle Operators (MVOC) Course (A1635X1), U.S Army Engineer School, Ft Leonard Wood, MO.

Skill enhancement school/course recommended for sergeant to corporal, Motor Vehicle Operators, is the Motor Transport NCO Operations Course (M03CDM7), Marine Corps Combat Service Support School, Camp Lejeune, NC.
