6043 - Aircraft Welder

Summary

Aircraft Welders fabricate and repair aircraft metals through basic welding using the gas/tungsten/titanium welding/arc/welding (GTAW) process on aluminum alloys, steel alloys, stainless steel alloys, and precipitating hardening nickel based alloys.

Prerequisites

Possess the PMOS 6092.

Completed the Training and Readiness 4000 SSSP for PMOS 6092.

Must have vision better than 20/30.

Must have normal color perception.

Must have normal depth perception.

Requirements

Must complete one of the following: Aircraft/Support Equipment Basic Welding Certification Course (N-701-0007) (M0464QE).

Oxyfuel/Shielded Metal Arc Welding Certification Course (N-701-0009) (M04685E).

Previously qualified individuals who need to Recertify per reference (ad) COMNAVFORINST 4790.2 must complete one of the following: Aircraft/Support Equipment Basic Welding Recertification Course (N-701-0008) (M0464QE).

Oxyfuel/Shielded Metal Arc Welder Recertification Course (N-701-0010) (M04685E).

The local administrative organization will assign MOS 6043 via unit diary upon review of the Marine’s graduation certificate from one of the listed courses.
