6214 - Unmanned Aircraft Mechanic, MQ-9

Summary

Unmanned Aircraft Mechanic, inspect, service, maintain, and repair aircraft airframes, airframes components, airframe structures, composite material, power plants, transmissions, fuel systems, pneumatic systems, hydraulic systems, landing gear systems, and perform duties relating to flight line operations.

Prerequisites

Must have normal color perception.

Must have a five-year term enlistment.

Must possess an MM score of 105 or higher.

Security requirement: secret security clearance eligibility.

Requirements

The 62xx OccFld sponsor (ASB-33C) will award the 6214 PMOS to Marines after reviewing necessary qualifications to fulfill initial qualifiers for Unmanned Aircraft Systems Mechanics.

Duties

The following is a summary of duties: For a complete listing of duties and tasks, refer to reference(s): (ad) COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 and (bn) NAVMC 4790.1.

Assist in pre-flight/post flight inspection of the aircraft.

Assist in start-up/shut down of the aircraft.

Employ operational resource management principles.

Perform a multitude of ground handling duties such as, but not limited to, taxi directing of aircraft, towing of aircraft, refueling of aircraft, securing/un-securing of aircraft, etc.

Perform ground maintenance tasks and repairs on aircraft and mission systems.

Perform aircraft cleaning.

Interpret technical manual/correspondence (i.e.

instructions, drawings, and/or diagrams).

Identify and diagnose aircraft and mission systems malfunctions.

Document all aircraft inspections, maintenance, and repairs in a maintenance management database system.

Order parts and materials needed for maintenance/repairs.

Provide training via self-paced readings, labs, and on-the-job training to individuals in the performance of ground maintenance duties.

Implement and manage a training plan for career progression of Marines and sustainment of required maintenance skills/qualifications.

Basic computer skills.

Be familiar with Microsoft Office Suite.

Strong written and verbal communications skills are necessary in the performance of their duties.

Utilize a multitude of information management systems.

Utilize maintenance training management database systems, to track maintenance training progression and qualifications.

Planning/scheduling/management of personnel and assets to varying degrees which increases with each promotion in rank: Shift supervisor as a staff sergeant.

Job/task leader as a sergeant and below.

Work center supervisor as a gunnery sergeant.
