8057 - Marine Acquisition Officer Candidate
Summary
Marine Acquisition Officer Candidates are members of the acquisition work force.
They assist in planning, directing, coordinating, and supervising specific functional areas that pertain to the acquisition of aircraft, vehicles, equipment, and weapons.
Officers serving in any 8057-coded billet are required to meet the professional educational standards as defined by the DoN DAWIA operating guide.
Prerequisites
Must be a commissioned officer (limited duty officers are not eligible (see MOS 8060)).
Must have 24 months of documented acquisition experience and: Life cycle logistics (LCL) functional area.
Engineering and technical management (ETM).
Marine Corps Program Management Basic Certification.
Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA).
Back to basics (BtB) foundational certified in test & evaluation (T&E).
BtB professional certified in contracts (CT) functional area; or demonstrated progress towards DAWIA BtB practitioner certification in business financial management (BFM) or business cost estimating (BCE) functional areas.

Duties
The Marine Acquisition Officer Candidate participates as a project officer primarily assigned to provide expertise to a program management office in highly technical and functional areas that pertain to the acquisition of equipment and weapon systems.
