8862 - Material Management Officer

Summary

Material Management Officers analyze, review, and seek to improve operations and project management, business modeling for decision making, and inventory management systems as they relate to Marine Corps logistic functions.

Provide a comprehensive background in quantitative problem-solving methods, operations management, behavioral and management science, economic analysis, and financial management, as applicable to logistic systems and processes in the Marine Corps.

Requirements

Complete the Material Logistics Support Management curriculum number 827 at Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, CA, or equivalent postgraduate degree at a comparable accredited institution.

Duties

Monitors the status of logistic management information.

Provides expertise on the principal means of accumulating, transmitting, processing, storing, and applying such information to management systems.

Coordinates the design and control of logistic management information systems with present technological capabilities.

Applies state-of-the-art logistics concepts, tools, and methodologies from public management and business to solve relevant supply chain management problems and to achieve cost-effective operational readiness.
