AM Aviation Structural Mechanic
The Navy MOS AM is for Aviation Structural Mechanics (AM). AMs are responsible for maintaining and repairing all structural components of aircraft, including: Cockpit control panels, Landing gear, Wings, Fuselage, Tail, Control systems. AMs also maintain all aircraft hydraulic power systems, actuating subsystems, and landing gear. AMs have ranks from Petty Officer 3rd Class (E-4) to Petty Officer 1st Class (E-6).
To become a Navy aviation mechanic, you need to: Complete basic education requirements, including a high school diploma Talk to a recruiter Consider earning a college degree Take the ASVAB test Complete basic training Attend “A” school Complete additional training
