AS Aviation Support Equipment Technician

The Navy’s Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) system classifies sailors by their skills and qualifications.

The AS rating is for Aviation Support Equipment Technicians.

They assist in the maintenance of aircraft and related equipment, and perform other apprentice-level duties.

They may work in hangars, on flight decks, or on flight lines at air stations. They work closely with others, do mostly physical work, and require little supervision.

To become an enlisted member of the Navy, you must take the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery test (ASVAB). You must get a minimum ASVAB score of 31, although in some cases a 26 is permitted.
