CMDCS Command Senior Chief
CMDCS stands for Command Senior Chief. Command Senior Chiefs are senior enlisted leaders in the Navy who play a significant role in mission accomplishment and readiness. They report directly to their commanding officers and are involved in every aspect of command-wide readiness.
Command Senior Chiefs strengthen the chain of command by keeping the commanding officer aware of situations that may affect the mission, readiness, welfare, and morale of the sailors. They also provide advice and recommendations to the chain of command.
The Navy announced the creation of the Command Senior Chief rating in July 2015. The rating feeds top enlisted into the Command Master Chief program.
