EA Engineering Aide
The Navy MOS EA stands for Engineering Aide. Engineering Aides (EAs) plan, supervise, and perform tasks related to construction.
Their duties include: Conducting land surveys Preparing maps, sketches, drawings, and blueprints Estimating costs Performing quality assurance tests on construction materials Operating and maintaining surveying and laboratory test instruments and equipment Designing grading and drainage systems Preparing progress reports, time records, construction schedules, and material and labor estimates
EAs are enlisted for five years. They complete initial training at Recruit Training Command Great Lakes (Boot Camp). They then report to Class “A” Technical School at Fort Leonard Wood, MO for 15 weeks.
Important qualifications for EAs include: High level math and record keeping skills The ability to do detailed work and perform repetitive tasks An orientation toward tools, equipment, and machines Manual dexterity Curiosity and resourcefulness A talent for expressing ideas in writing A good memory
