EMN Electrician's Mate, Nuclear Power
Electrician’s Mate Nuclear (EMN) is a Navy job that involves troubleshooting, operating, and maintaining electrical systems on nuclear-powered ships. EMNs work on aircraft carriers and submarines.
They are responsible for: Supervising the shutdown reactor plant Moving naval tactical forces Repairing and maintaining equipment Testing electrical circuits Analyzing machinery vibration cuts of rotating electrical equipment Measuring the voltage or resistance of current components Checking insulation
EMNs attend the Naval Nuclear Power Training Command. Training consists of: 26 weeks of Nuclear Field A School 26 weeks of Nuclear Power School
These schools are located in Goose Creek, SC.
EMNs must be proficient at troubleshooting and testing electrical circuits. They are rarely detailed outside the nuclear community.
