FT Fire Control Technician
The Navy MOS FT is a Fire Control Technician. They are responsible for the maintenance and repair of specialty submarines. They are also responsible for the administrative and operational duties of the submarine’s computer and control systems.
The duties of a Fire Control Technician include: Operating, testing, repairing, and performing maintenance on fire control systems Performing repair of computers Serving as system local area network administrator Operating submarine combat control systems Testing submarine combat control systems Operating and maintaining combat control systems associated systems Participating in weapons handling
To become a Fire Control Technician, you must: Be a U.S. citizen eligible to meet security clearance requirements Have a minimum education of high school or equivalent Complete 8 weeks of basic training Complete 31 weeks of technical training Attend tech school in Great Lakes, IL
