GSE Gas Turbine System Technician Electrical
The Navy MOS GSE stands for Gas Turbine System Technician Electrical. GSEs operate, repair, and perform maintenance on electrical components of: Gas turbine engines Main propulsion machinery Auxiliary equipment Propulsion control systems Alarm and warning circuitry Electrical distribution equipment Ship’s Service Gas Turbine Generators (SSGTG)
GSEs also operate standard test equipment, stop engines, and check for proper performance. They replace and adjust operating tolerance of contacts, microswitches, relay switches, pressure switches, and temperature switches.
To be a GSE, you must: Be a U.S. citizen eligible for security clearance Have mechanical ability Have experience working with machines or electric/electronic systems Have some education in physics Have good use of your hands and normal color perception
Enlistees are taught the fundamentals of this rating through on-the-job training or formal Navy schooling.
