HM Hospital Corpsman
The Navy MOS HM stands for Hospital Corpsman.
HMs are emergency medical technicians (EMTs) with more education and training than basic EMTs. They assist in the prevention and treatment of disease, disability, and injury.
They also: Assist with physical examinations Provide patient care Assist in the administration of medicinal Assist in the prevention and treatment of dental conditions Assist Navy physicians and dentists in surgeries
HMs are responsible for providing medical and dental treatment to their fellow Sailors and Marines. They keep them operational in the fleet.
HMs fall between the ranks of E-4 and E-6. There’s a pay increase taking place in 2023.
There are approximately 30,000 active duty and Reserve Navy Hospital Corps personnel.
