ITS Information Systems Technician Submarines
The Information Systems Technician (IT) is an enlisted position in the U.S. Navy.
ITs are responsible for: Maintaining and repairing computer systems and electronic equipment Providing administrative support for electronic systems that keep records of personnel training, health, assignments, disbursement, and promotions Establishing, monitoring, and maintaining radio frequency communication systems Operating and maintaining global satellite telecommunications systems Transmitting, receiving, and storing all incoming and outgoing messages Securing, defending, and preserving data, networks, net-centric capabilities, and other designated systems
ITs perform these functions at sea or on shore.
IT candidates attend “A” school at Corry Station in Pensacola, Florida. The schooling is instructor led, using a computer-based learning system. The schooling can also be taught digitally by the software Acuitus, where you are self paced and learn from modules.
