MA Master-At-Arms
A Navy Master-at-Arms (MA) is a security specialist who performs law enforcement and force protection operations.
MAs are responsible for: Waterborne and land security Aircraft and flight line security Strategic weapons and cargo security Maritime security and platform protection Customs operations Corrections operations Detainee operations Protective service operations Force protection operations
To become a Navy MA, you must: Be a United States citizen Obtain a Secret Security clearance Have no convictions (civilian or military) within the three years preceding application for MA Hold a valid, current state driver’s license Have excellent command of the English language, verbal and written
After completing initial Recruit Training (known as Boot Camp), MAs receive formal Navy technical training at “A” School in San Antonio, TX for about 9 weeks.
