MN Mineman
The Navy MOS MN stands for Mineman.
Minemen perform a variety of duties, including: Maintaining, inspecting, installing, and recovering underwater mines Assembling and disassembling mines Assisting in the detection and neutralization of underwater mines Testing various electronic components to ensure proper repair and proper mine function Safely storing, handling, and loading mines for transport Interpreting radar presentations Evaluating tactical situations Making recommendations to superiors during watch conditions Applying current doctrine and procedures to CIC operations as necessary for radar navigation Providing technical information and assistance related to Mine Warfare and search and rescue operations
Minemen are experts in all aspects of: Tactical and operational Mine Warfare (MIW) Rapid Object Localization (ROL) Environmental survey Mining and Mine Countermeasures (MCM) operations
Minemen are taught the fundamentals of their rating through on-the-job training or formal Navy schooling.
