AWR Naval Aircrewman Tactical-Helicopter
The Navy MOS AWR stands for Naval Aircrewman (Tactical Helicopter). AWRs detect, analyze, classify, and track sub-surface, surface, and air contacts. They also perform sonar and sonobuoy operations, help coordinate tactical communications relay, and conduct weapons delivery in support of tactical missions.
AWRs are part of a diverse community that is highly specialized to the platform they are assigned. After training, they may be assigned to naval air stations, squadrons, aircraft carriers, or other aviation facilities in the United States or overseas. Approximately 60% of their assignments take place at sea.
