CSEL
CSEL stands for Command Senior Enlisted Leader. CSELs are also known as senior enlisted advisors (SEAs). They: Ensure and enhance naval warfighting readiness Provide leadership and mentorship to the Navy Advise commanders and COs in partnership with deputy commanders, chiefs of staff, or executive officers (XO) Represent their commander, communicating the commander’s goals and direction for the command to the enlisted workforce Represent the enlisted personnel’s views and concerns to the commander CSELs are warranted when a command is not large enough for a CO but rather an OIC. There are 20 command master chiefs within the US Navy, plus those who serve at Joint Commands.
