EOD Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician
Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Technicians in the Navy are experts in explosives, diving, and parachuting.
They are responsible for: Locating, identifying, rendering safe, and disposing of foreign and domestic ordnance Clearing harbors of navigation hazards Engaging in underwater search and recovery operations Performing limited underwater repairs on ships
EOD Technicians can render safe all types of explosives, including: Conventional, Improvised, Underwater, Chemical, Biological, Nuclear. EOD candidates undergo 51 weeks of rigorous training. Their training starts with nine weeks of dive school at the Naval Diving and Salvage Training Center (NDSTC) in Panama City, Florida.
EOD Technicians can earn additional pay, including: Special duty assignment pay Parachute jump pay Dive pay Demolition pay
The Navy also offers an enlistment bonus for certain NSW/NSO communities.
