615X Special Warfare LDO

615X is a Special Warfare Limited Duty Officer (LDO) in the United States Navy. 615Xs plan and conduct naval special warfare in riverine, lacustrine, or maritime environments. They perform airborne, diving, and demolition operations.

615Xs: Perform duties in accordance with the missions of all Naval Special Warfare commands Advance within broad technical fields related to their former enlisted ratings Fill leadership and management positions at the Ensign through Captain level

615Xs were phased out in July 2018.

Enlisted personnel selected for LDO are appointed as permanent officers in the grade of ensign in the Regular Navy. They are required to be an officer for 10 years in order to retire as an officer.
