618X Electronics Specialty LDO

The U.S. Navy’s Electronics Specialty LDO (618X) serves in billets related to the operation, maintenance, and logistics of weapons, fire control, sonar, and other systems.

They also work on: Acquisitions Program management MPT&E Interoperability Communications Computers Navigation Air traffic control Auxiliary Space/ballistic missile defense C5I related systems

The Electronics Specialty LDO works on: Planning, coordinating, and supervising the installation, operation, and maintenance of electronics systems Assisting in the operational evaluation of new installations and modifications to existing systems Providing operational and technical input to research

LDOs are former enlisted technicians. They are experts and leaders in their technical specialty. LDOs are a path for people who have a degree and want to move into a Technical Officer role in the military.

Applicants for LDO or CWO in Surface Electronics come from seven source ratings: GM, ET, FCA, FC, IC, MN, STG.

CTs with significant electronic warfare equipment maintenance and repair experience may also be considered for selection.
