653X Civil Engineering Corps LDO
The Civil Engineering Corps Limited Duty Officer (LDO) MOS is 653X. LDOs use their leadership, technical proficiency, and experience to support the war-fighting capability and readiness of Naval Expeditionary Forces.
They help plan, coordinate, and direct the technical, operational, training, and administrative responsibilities of Naval Construction Force units. They also assist in planning, scheduling, and operations of public works departments within the Navy shore establishment.
LDOs perform tasks similar to those of warrant officers (WO). However, the formal definition differences focus on the degree of authority and level of responsibility, as well as the breadth of required expertise.
To work in the Civil Engineering Corps, candidates must have a four-year degree from an accredited institution, preferably in the field of civil, mechanical or electrical engineering.
