123X Permanent Military Professor (RL)
The Permanent Military Professor (PMP) program was created in 1997. The program establishes a group of career naval officers who instruct at one of the Navy’s education institutions.
The PMP program is for officers in the grades of captain and commander. They must have doctoral degrees and extensive operational experience.
They instruct until statutory retirement or until released from active duty.
The PMP program designator is 123X. The pay grades are O-5 through O-6 only.
Applicants should have a relevant masters degree for the area of teaching sought after. A limited number may be selected to complete a relevant degree prior to teaching.
