The U.S. Navy’s MOS for Air Warfare - Pilot or NFO (Other than Operational Flying) is 130X.
Naval Flight Officers (NFOs) are unrestricted line officers (URLs) who are qualified to fly heavier-than-air, or heavier and lighter-than-air type aircraft. They are eligible for command at sea and ashore in the various naval aviation aircraft type/model/series (T/M/S) communities. At a senior level, they can command carrier air wings and aircraft carriers afloat and functional air wings.
To become an NFO, candidates must: Be at least 19 years old Complete degree requirements Be commissioned prior to age 27 Attend Officer Candidate School (OCS) in Newport, RI Complete a six-week air indoctrination course at Naval Aviation Schools Command, in Pensacola, FL Attend primary flight training
There is no vision requirement to enter flight training for NFOs. However, their vision must be correctable to 20/20 and there are limits on refraction.
