144X Engineering Duty Officer-Ship Engineering

144X is a Navy officer designator for an Engineering Duty Officer (EDO) who specializes in ship engineering.

EDOs are unique to the Navy. They start their careers as Unrestricted Line (URL) officers, learning how to operate ships or submarines. They then obtain technical or engineering masters degrees.
