181X Cryptologic Warfare Officer

181X is the officer billet designator code for a Cryptologic Warfare Officer (CWO) in the United States Navy.

CWOs are experts in all aspects of Information Operations (IO), including: Traditional Cryptology Command and Control Computer Network Operations Space Systems CWOs are directly involved in every aspect of Naval operations. They deliver information to decision-makers by: Attacking, defending, and exploiting networks Capitalizing on vulnerabilities in the information domain

To be a CWO, you must: Have a baccalaureate degree with a minimum GPA of 3.00 Have an Officer Aptitude Rating (OAR) minimum score of 45 Be a US citizen Be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance Be physically qualified for sea duty and world-wide deployable

The salary range for a CWO job is from $65,781 to $85,398 per year in the United States.

After completing their initial training and qualification, most CWOs are assigned duty at the Navy Cyber Warfare Development Group (NCWDG). The NCWDG is headquartered in Suitland, MD but works in the Cyber Foundry, located close to Fort Meade, MD.
