What Accenture (incl. Accenture Federal Services) looks for

Accenture recruiters say a recruiter reads your résumé and cover letter first. Their advice is to tailor the résumé to each role and use the posting's exact words: if it asks for "workshop facilitation" and you have it, write that phrase. Make work experience the core of the page, use standard fonts with no pictures or logos, and proofread twice. Accenture also suggests a header that reads like a business card, with certifications and credentials, plus a one- to two-sentence trigger summary.

Bullet formula: [Posting keyword, word for word] + [what you did] + [the result for your team or mission]. Experience that matches the requirements should be the core of the page.

Do

  • Put certifications and important credentials in the header, next to your contact details, the way you would on a business card.
  • Open with a trigger summary of one or two sentences on your most valuable skills and experience.
  • Mirror the posting's keywords word for word. Recruiters search for them.
  • Make work experience that meets the role's requirements the core of the résumé.
  • Cut roles that aren't relevant rather than adding another page.
  • Proofread, then ask a trusted colleague to review it.

Avoid

  • Don't use pictures, logos or unusual fonts. Accenture recruiters say to stick to standard fonts.
  • Don't send one untailored résumé. Edit it for every role.
  • Don't let spelling or grammar errors through. Accenture says they make a bad first impression about your effort.

Words from their postings

workshop facilitation, business analysis, project management, cloud, ServiceNow, Salesforce, strategic leadership, complex problem-solving, operational excellence.

Veteran programs

  • Junior Military Officer program: for officers with at least four years of active service, a bachelor's degree and one year of civilian work experience.
  • Apprenticeships for veterans without a four-year degree. Accenture is a flagship employer partner for the VA's VET TEC program.
  • Accenture Federal Services: DoD SkillBridge (open to all enlisted and officer ranks), Hiring Our Heroes fellowships, Salesforce Military training, Onward to Opportunity (O2O) and a Military-to-Civilian Career Transition Program for officers and senior enlisted with 10+ years.
  • Accenture Federal Services says 2,000 veterans, service members and military spouses work there.
