Do

  • Put education and progress toward a CPA or similar credential near the top. These are the first filters for audit and tax roles.
  • Quantify your accuracy and scale: dollars reconciled, error rates, audit findings closed.
  • Show integrity and courage, for example raising a discrepancy or changing a flawed process.
  • Show teamwork across groups. KPMG's values stress respecting differences and working together.
  • Use KPMG's Veterans Development Day for résumé writing and mock interviews, and its Veterans Virtual Career Fair to talk with veteran employees.

Avoid

  • Don't leave military finance systems and acronyms unexplained. Say what the system does, e.g. "federal payroll and travel system".
  • Don't list duties without numbers. Big Four readers look for scale and accuracy.
