Oracle Resume Template for Veterans

An Oracle recruiter’s rules in one template: a value-selling summary with a core-competencies list, relevant experience only, no Times New Roman, no references. Two pages is fine when the experience is relevant.

What Oracle looks for

An Oracle senior principal talent advisor says the most common résumé mistake is not tailoring it. Expect to keep 5–6 versions. The summary should “market your skills, not merely tell your story,” and a core-competencies list works well there. Rebalance your experience so only transferable work appears. Length should cover everything relevant; the one-page rule is outdated. Keep formatting easy on the eyes. He specifically says Times New Roman is “not your friend” and warns against overusing bullets or bold. Mirror the posting’s keywords, make your dates match LinkedIn, and leave references off.

Bullet formula: Transferable action + result, placed under subheadings that match the target job’s functions, in the posting’s own terms.

Do

  • Decide on the role first, then write the résumé for it. Oracle’s recruiter expects 5–6 versions.
  • Open with a summary that sells your value, followed by a core-competencies list.
  • Keep only transferable experience. Use subheadings to reorder it by relevance.
  • Mirror the posting’s keywords in your summary, subheadings, and education.
  • Make every job title and date match your LinkedIn profile exactly.
  • Stay 100% honest: accurate titles, and only work you personally did.

Avoid

  • Don’t use Times New Roman, heavy bold, or too many bullets.
  • Don’t include references. They’re assumed available on request.
  • Don’t cut relevant experience just to fit one page.
  • Don’t describe your background instead of marketing your skills in the summary.
