What PwC looks for

PwC says it recruits, develops and manages everyone against the PwC Professional framework, which has two dimensions. Trusted Leadership covers how you affect others, how you coach and how you keep learning. Distinctive Outcomes covers quality and integrity, business sense and working with others to deliver for clients. PwC asks candidates for examples of both from work, school or volunteer activities, so each role on the résumé should show some of each. On process, PwC wants a current résumé uploaded as a PDF with "Resume" in the file name, and it doesn't require a cover letter for entry-level roles.

Bullet formula: [Distinctive Outcome: the result, with a quality or dollar measure] by [Trusted Leadership: how you coached, influenced or worked with others]. Aim for one of each type of evidence in every role.

Do

  • Show how you coach and work alongside others, and how your impact makes people want to work with you. That's Trusted Leadership.
  • Show quality, integrity and business sense, and how you worked with others to deliver for a client or stakeholder. That's Distinctive Outcomes.
  • Use volunteer or academic work as evidence too. PwC says the dimensions can come from work, studies, extracurriculars or volunteering.
  • Upload the résumé as a PDF and put "Resume" in the file name, as PwC recommends.
  • Show a habit of learning, such as certifications, degrees and new tools. PwC asks whether you keep finding ways to grow.

Avoid

  • Don't list duties without the outcome. The framework is about impact and behaviors.
  • Don't submit an editable or oddly formatted file. Use PDF to keep the formatting.
  • Don't treat military finance or contracting as a niche. Describe the stakeholders, dollars and controls in business terms.
