What Schneider looks for

Schneider says 24% of its associates have military experience. Eligible veterans who drove trucks in the military get the same amount of driving-experience credit for their time served. Its core values are Safety, Integrity, Respect and Excellence. Schneider also runs a VA-approved 12-month Military Apprenticeship that can pay up to $1,647 a month on top of your paycheck, and accepts GI Bill benefits for CDL training. So your résumé and driving application should document exactly what, where and how much you drove, your safety record and your license endorsements.

Do

  • List your CDL class, endorsements, medical card and military licenses at the top. They're the first filter.
  • Document military truck driving with dates, vehicle types and miles. Schneider credits eligible drivers for time served.
  • Lead with safety. Schneider's core values are Safety, Integrity, Respect and Excellence.
  • Check your Military Apprenticeship eligibility (VA benefit, up to $1,647/month in year one) and GI Bill CDL tuition options through Schneider's recruiters.
  • If you're in the Guard or Reserve, say so. Schneider guarantees home time for drill and annual training.

Avoid

  • Don't write "drove military vehicles." Name the truck class, cargo and miles so the experience can be credited.
