If you receive VA disability compensation and applied for Lifeline expecting an easy yes, the rejection probably felt like a mistake. It usually isn’t. The single most misunderstood thing about Lifeline and veterans is this: receiving a VA benefit is not, by itself, a qualifying condition. Only one VA-related programme appears on Lifeline’s qualifying list — what the FCC and USAC call the Veterans and Survivors Pension Benefit — and it’s a different animal from disability compensation, VA health care, DIC or the GI Bill.
