Navy PFA Worksheet: BCA & PRT
Log a Physical Fitness Assessment: the two-step BCA, push-ups, forearm plank, and your cardio event, with the category for each and a plan for the next cycle.
What this worksheet covers
Name, rank, and unit prefill from your service profile.
Sailor
- Name (Last, First, MI)
- Rate / Rank
- Command / UIC
- PFA date
- PFA cycle
Year and cycle: cycle 1 is Jan–Jun and cycle 2 is Jul–Dec (from 2026).

- Height (in)
Measured by the CFL to the nearest half inch, in PT gear, without shoes.
- Weight (lb)
- Waist circumference (in)
Measured by trained CFLs per the BCA operating guide.

How to fill out the Worksheet (OPNAVINST 6110.1L)
A personal and CFL-side record of one Physical Fitness Assessment: the Body Composition Assessment (BCA), then the Physical Readiness Test (PRT). It shows where you stand in each event and what to train before the next cycle. The official score is whatever your Command Fitness Leader enters in PRIMS. When: Before a PFA, to set targets from a practice run (mock PRT). On test day, to log what the CFL records. After the test, to check PRIMS and build your plan. From 1 Jan 2026 there are two PFA cycles a year (Jan–Jun and Jul–Dec), per NAVADMIN 264/25.
Step by step
- Record the cycle and your age group. PRT standards are scored by age and sex.
- BCA step 1: height and waist circumference give a waist-to-height ratio. The step-1 screen is now sex-neutral.
- If you don't meet step 1, BCA step 2 estimates body fat with the Navy's sex-normed equations. Record the result and whether you met the standard.
- PRT: push-ups for 2 minutes, forearm plank for time, then the 1.5-mile run/walk or a CO-authorized alternate cardio event (2,000-m row, stationary bike, or 500-yd / 450-m swim).
- Look up each event's category in the current PRT scoring tables and record the overall PRT category.
- Confirm the CFL entered the same results in PRIMS, then write your plan for the next cycle.
What a strong one looks like
- Train to a category, not a pass. Probationary is the pass line, and EVAL/advancement boards see the category.
- Under OPNAVINST 6110.1L a Sailor who misses the BCA can still pass the PFA by scoring Outstanding-Low overall on the PRT with Excellent-Medium or better in all three events.
- Get an official copy of your PFA results from PRIMS after each cycle. EVAL block 20 must match PRIMS.
- If you're medically waived from an event, make sure the waiver is in PRIMS before test day.
Common mistakes
- Assuming the old rules. Since 1 Jan 2026, three PFA failures within four years (not necessarily consecutive) require separation processing, and past failures were cleared on that date (NAVADMIN 264/25).
- Using a non-official PRT or BCA as a record. Only official PFAs count for EVAL block 20.
- Skipping FEP after a failure. FEP participation is required, and missing it can bring UCMJ action.
