How to fill out the Worksheet (MCO 1040.31)
Reenlistments, extensions, and lateral moves are requested through your career planner as a RELM in TFRS. Boat spaces are limited by MOS and fiscal year, so arriving prepared (eligibility cleared, choices ranked, questions ready) is how you get what you want. When: As soon as your fiscal-year retention campaign opens. The FY27 campaign (MARADMIN 590/25) opened 1 January 2026 for Marines with an ECC from 1 October 2026 to 30 September 2027. Boat spaces fill early.
Step by step
- Find your ECC and your cohort fiscal year.
- Check the eligibility items: recommended for reenlistment by your CO, current PFT/CFT, body composition, rifle qualification, PME for grade, no pending legal or adverse action.
- Rank what you want: stay in your MOS, lateral move (list MOSs), a B-billet or special duty assignment, or a duty station.
- Look up incentives in the current SRB MARADMIN and retention campaign: SRB amount by MOS and zone, duty station or lateral move incentives, Commandant's Retention Program.
- Meet your career planner with this sheet and your questions; they build the RELM in TFRS.
- Track the RELM until it is approved, then reenlist before the authority expires.
What a strong one looks like
- Your JEPES or FITREPs and your fitness scores affect how competitive you are for limited boat spaces.
- If you want a lateral move, ask what schools and entry requirements (GT score, clearance, screening) the new MOS has.
- Incentives change every fiscal year and sometimes mid-year by MARADMIN change. Confirm amounts with the career planner before you commit.
Common mistakes
- Waiting until the last months before your ECC, when your MOS may be closed.
- An expired PFT, CFT, or rifle qual that makes you ineligible on paper.
- Assuming an SRB applies without checking your MOS, zone, and the effective dates.
