6500 aviation ordnance
The 6500 MOS is the Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) code for Basic Aviation Ordnance Marines in the U.S. Marine Corps. Aviation ordnance Marines are responsible for the acquisition, safety, storage, buildup, delivery, and loading and unloading of ammunition onto aircraft.
Marines with the 6500 MOS attend Aviation Ordnanceman, Class AO Al School at Pensacola, FL. The training lasts approximately five weeks and covers basic aviation theory and skills, as well as electronic troubleshooting. To become an aviation ordnanceman, you must have color perception and 20/20 vision or have your vision correctable to 20/20.
