7242 air support
The Marine Corps MOS 7242 is for Air Support Operations Operators. These operators are responsible for: Processing requests for close air support, casualty evacuation, and assault support Using electronic equipment and countermeasures to accurately place air support against enemy positions Sending, receiving, and relaying information, requests, and instructions over communication nets Coordinating between air support and other command and control units Ensuring the safety of flight for aircraft
MOS 7242 operators can work in the Direct Air Support Company or the Tactical Air Command Center. They attend MOS school at 29 Palms.
MOS 7242 operators may also be responsible for: Preparing and using weapons systems to protect flightlines and nearby personnel Using surface-to-air missiles or other LADD weaponry
