0331 - Machine Gunner

Summary

The Machine Gunner is responsible for the tactical employment of the light, medium, and heavy Machine-Gun, and their support vehicle.

Machine Gunners provide direct fire in support of the infantry rifle squads/platoons/companies.

They are located in the weapons platoons of the rifle and weapons company in the infantry battalion.

Noncommissioned officers are assigned as team leaders and squad leaders/section leaders.

Prerequisites

Must possess an EL score of 90 or GT score of 90 or MM score of 90 or higher.

Must meet initial strength test standards associated with PEF assignments as listed in the glossary (pg.

xiv) prior to shipping to recruit training.

Must meet MOS classification standards as listed in the glossary (pg.

xiv) prior to graduating from recruit training.

Must have a WS-B water survival.

Requirements

Complete the Infantry Marine Course (M03RG34) SOI Camp Lejeune, NC; or (M10RG32) SOI Camp Pendleton, CA.

Complete the Machine Gunner Course (M100332) SOI, Camp Pendleton, CA; or (M030334) SOI, Camp Lejeune, NC.

Team/Squad leaders will complete the Advanced Machinegun Course at (M10H6A2) SOI, Camp Pendleton, CA; or (M03H6A4) SOI, Camp Lejeune, NC.

Squad/Section leaders will complete the ISULC (M100302) SOI, Camp Pendleton, CA; or (M030304) SOI Camp Lejeune, NC.
