0341 - Mortarman

Summary

Mortarmen are responsible for the tactical employment of the Light and Medium Mortar systems.

Mortarmen provide indirect fire in support to the rifle and LAR squads/platoons/companies and also the infantry and LAR battalions.

They are located in the weapons platoon of the rifle companies, 81mm mortar platoons of the weapons companies, and LAR companies.

Noncommissioned officers are assigned as mortar gunners, forward observers, fire direction plotters, and squad and section leaders.

Prerequisites

Must possess a CL score of 90 or GT score of 90 or higher.

Must meet initial strength test standards associated with PEF assignments as listed in the glossary (pg.

xiv) prior to shipping to recruit training.

Must meet MOS classification standards as listed in the glossary (pg.

xiv) prior to graduating from recruit training.

Must have a WS-B water survival.

Requirements

Complete the Infantry Marine Course (M03RG34) SOI Camp Lejeune, NC; or (M10RG32) SOI Camp Pendleton, CA.

Complete the Infantry Mortarman Course (M030344) SOI, Camp Lejeune, NC; or (M100342) SOI Camp Pendleton, CA.

Team/squad leaders will complete the Advanced Mortarman Course (M10H5H2) at SOI Camp Pendleton, CA; or (M03H5H4) at SOI, Camp Lejeune, NC.

Squad/section leaders will complete the ISULC (M100302) at SOI Camp Pendleton, CA; or (M030304) at SOI Camp Lejeune, NC.
