0372 - Critical Skills Operator

Summary

The Critical Skills Operator (CSO) is a US Marine who is trained to execute missions in within the following special operations core activities assigned by USSOCOM: direct action (DA); special reconnaissance (SR); countering weapons of mass destruction (CWMD); counterterrorism (CT); unconventional warfare (UW); foreign internal defense (FID); security force assistance (SFA); and counterinsurgency (COIN).

The CSO is capable of being independently employed or rapidly integrated within the Joint Force.

As part of a command team within the O4 level and above, the MGySgt or MSgt CSO is designated billets as the Special Operations Forces Senior Enlisted Advisor (SOFSEA).

The MGySgt CSO can also serve as a Command Senior Enlisted Leader (CSEL) in designated combined, joint, and SOF billets (Examples: combined joint special operations task force (CJSOTF), special operations task force (SOTF), and theater special operations command (TSOC)).

Prerequisites

Must be a U.S.

citizen.

Must have a GT score of 105 or higher.

Must have a current first class PFT.

FTAP (LCpl to Sgt), any MOS with a minimum of 24 months TIS may volunteer to attend MARFORSOC assessment and selection (A&S).

STAP (LCpl to Sgt), any MOS may attend A&S with the approval from their respective MOS Monitor.

Must be at least a Corporal, with no more than eight years total time in service upon attending the MARFORSOC Individual Training Course (ITC) (M03KZ4K).

Sergeant(s) must report to ITC with no more than 18 months’ time in grade (TIG).

COMMARFORSOC may waive TIG requirements for Marines considered exceptionally qualified based on the organization’s operational requirements.

Any administrative action, adverse in nature, or jeopardy on contract will require a COMMARFORSOC waiver to attend A&S and ITC.

Security requirement: Completed finalized adjudicated secret clearance based on a national agency check, law enforcement and credit check (NACLC) or T3 background investigation prior to attending ITC.

NOTE: Interim secret clearance eligibility will not be accepted.

Meet TS/SCI eligibility guidelines upon ITC graduation and assignment to the Marine raider regiment.

Must obtain a Naval Special Warfare/Special Operator (NSW/SO) physical prior to attending A&S.

Must meet the minimum Ground Combat Arms MOS Classification Standards.

Must meet the following physical standards during phase 1 of A&S: 1st Class PFT.

1st Class CFT.

Water survival intermediate (WSI), to include not exceeding a 13:00 maximum time for a 300 meter swim using the breast stroke or side stroke.

Not exceeding a 3:00:00 maximum time for a 12 mile ruck march with a 45 lbs.

ruck in MARPAT utilities and rifle (NOTE: water, utilities, and rifle weight not included).

Not exceeding a 40:00 maximum time for a 5 mile run.

Not exceeding an 8:00 maximum time while conducting two repetitions of the obstacle course.

Must be world-wide deployable.

Requirements

Selection from MARFORSOC A&S to attend ITC.

Graduate of ITC (M03KZ4K).

Successful completion of the Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape (SERE) Level C Course (M03M47K); or a Joint Equivalent SERE Level C course.

An approval letter to lateral move to PMOS 0372 (NOTE: COMMARFORSOC has been delegated awarding authority for the PMOS 0372).

Once awarded the PMOS 0372, the CSO is authorized to wear the Marine Special Operator Insignia (MSOI) (NOTE: In accordance MCO 1020.35 Involuntary Removal of the MSOI, COMMARFORSOC may revoke this privilege from a CSO).

Once awarded the PMOS 0372, the CSO must have all required credentials for rapid global deployment in accordance with the DoD Foreign Clearance Guide.

Required follow on training for all CSOs prior to assignment to the Marine raider regiment are as follows: Basic Language Course (M03RRSK); Basic Airborne Course (A030CG1); and the Multi-Mission Parachutist Course (M50KLD1).

CSO(s) are required to maintain a current first class PFT and CFT to retain their PMOS as 0372.

COMMARFORSOC can waiver this requirement on a case by case basis.
