0551 - Information Specialist

Summary

Information Practitioners are focused on the information environment (IE), operational planning and coordination, IE characterization/ analysis, and integration of information.

Duties encompass the supervision of tasking, processing, and dissemination of products related to the thirteen (13) different information related capabilities (IRCs); operation security (OPSEC), military deception (MILDEC), information assurance (IA), cyberspace operations, electronic warfare (EW), special effects, physical attack, physical security, defense support to public diplomacy (DSPD), communications strategy and operations (COMMSTRAT), counterintelligence (CI), civil military operations (CMO), and military information support operations (MISO).

Advanced Information Planners prepare and issue reports to include target audience analysis reports, technical reports, and summaries.

This MOS will be assigned as a non-PMOS only by the CMC (MM).

The active-duty structure for this FMOS has converted to the 1751 PMOS/1781 FMOS.

Prerequisites

Must possess a GT score of 100 or higher.

Security requirement: secret security clearance.

Must be currently in or have orders to fill an enlisted information planner billet.

Requirements

Complete the MAGTF Operations in the Information Environment Specialist Course (N03F2K1), Norfolk, VA.

Any of these requirements may be waived by the Deputy Commandant for Information based on unique work or educational experience.
