0802 - Field Artillery Officer
Summary
Field Artillery Officers command or assist commanders in directing field artillery units.
They direct administration, communication, supply, maintenance, and security activities of artillery units.
They direct tactical employment of the field artillery unit in combat, and coordinate fire support from artillery, mortar, air, and naval surface fires assets.
They serve as subject matter experts on the employment of indirect fire support assets organic to the MAGTF and effects-producing systems in the physical, cyber, electronic, and information domain.
They advise supported commanders about fire support unit employment considerations and use of supporting arms.
They evaluate intelligence, and conduct targeting at all echelons.
Prerequisites
Must meet MOS classification standards, as listed in the glossary (pg.
xiv) prior to graduating from the Basic School.
Must meet MOS-Specific physical standards (MSPS), as listed in NAVMC 3500.7 prior to graduating from the MOS school.
Requirements
Complete the Marine Artillery Officer Basic Course (A20HP11) Ft Sill, OK.
