0953 - Formal School Officer Instructor-Fixed Wing Pilot

Summary

Marine officers assigned to a teaching billet or faculty position, that facilitate learning as their primary duty in a designated course approved by the appropriate general/flag officer in their chain of command, may be granted an EMOS if they meet the prerequisites and requirements outlined below.

Augmented personnel support used as training aids (e.g.

role players, demonstrator cadre) for instruction do not meet the criteria to be instructors.

Prerequisites

Fully qualified in the primary fixed wing MOS aligned with the instructor billet.

Security requirement: eligible for top secret special compartmented intelligence clearance.

Requirements

Must meet the prerequisites prescribed in MCO 1553.2D Marine Corps Formal School Management Policy Guidance.

Completion of a TRNGCMD approved instructor course; either an approved Marine Corps or service level approved instructor service course (other services pertain).

Demonstrated level of proficiency and successful completion of duties while serving in an instructor billet.

Serve in a specified TRNGCMD instructor designated billet identification code (BIC) billet for a period of not less than six months.

Approved award of the EMOS by a TRNGCMD commander or TRNGCMD school director in the grade of O5 or above.

Commanding General, TRNGCMD will be the approving authority for all waivers where Marines are not currently assigned to fill a designated instructor billet BIC, time serving in the billet, and any other request which does not meet the requirements listed above.

Duties

Collaborate with formal school staff responsible for learning design to ensure seamless transition into course implementation.

Employ MarineNet eLearning ecosystem to enable learner self-study with accountability.

Prepare for and facilitate learning during specific course lessons to achieve learning objectives and associated learning outcomes that meet service defined common or occupational learning requirements.

Cultivate and sustain open and challenging learning climates within lessons to prompt learners to engage and collaborate.

Guide lesson activities and debriefs, exploiting learning opportunities as they emerge, per approved lesson files, course learning outcomes, and local faculty qualification requirements.

Lead active learner-centered methods, including chalk talks, gallery walks, jigsaws, discussions, decision-forcing cases, decision games, practical applications, field exercises, and wargaming opportunities among others.

Proctor assessments and exams per the approved graders guide to assess learning and provide learners with feedback while maintaining the integrity of each action.

Mentor and coach students regarding their academic progress, learning, and professional development.

Continue personal and professional development through feedback collection, learning trends research, critical self-assessment, goal setting, developmental course and activity completion, and confirmed performance improvement.

Process lesson evaluation data and form recommendations to support course review boards.

Professionally contribute to review boards and working groups related to resource optimization in meeting defined service learning requirements.
