1371 - Combat Engineer

Summary

Combat Engineers conduct engineer reconnaissance; emplace obstacle systems; conduct breaching operations; reduce explosive obstacles/hazards conduct mine/countermine operations; employ demolitions and military explosives; conduct urban breaching; conduct route and area clearance; non-standard bridging/repair; construct and maintain combat roads and trails; construct expedient roads and airfield/landing zones; design and construct survivability positions; perform expedient vertical and horizontal construction; design, construct and maintain base camps/forward operating bases and combat outposts; and fight as provisional infantry.

Prerequisites

Must possess an MM score of 95 or higher.

Must meet initial strength test standards associated with PEF assignments as listed in the glossary (pg.

ix) prior to shipping to recruit training.

Must meet MOS classification standards as listed in the glossary (pg.

xiv) prior to graduating from recruit training.

Pass the normal color perception test w/PIP (12 out of 14 correct) or FALANT.

Must meet MOS physical standards, as listed in NAVMC 3500.12 prior to graduating from MOS school.

Must undergo computerized neurocognitive assessment testing at Marine Corps Engineer School (MCES) using the Automated Neuropsychological Assessment Metrics (ANAM) Test prior to beginning training.

Requirements

Complete the Basic Combat Engineer Course (M031302), Marine Corps Engineer School, Camp Lejeune, NC.

Complete the Engineer Operations Chief Course (M0313G2), Marine Corps Engineer School, Camp Lejeune, NC is required upon promotion to MSgt.
