1751 - Influence Specialist

Summary

Influence Specialists are the Marines that make up the PSYOP and civil affairs forces in the active component.

These are the forces which conduct military information support operations (MISO), civil affairs operations (CAO), or civil military operations (CMO).

The Influence Specialist’s billet will determine their support to plan and execute functions pertaining to military information support operations (MISO), civil authorities’ information support (CAIS), and civil affairs operations (CAO).

Influence Specialists deploy in small teams known as tactical PSYOP teams or CA teams, depending on the billet they are filling, to employ capabilities that operationalize the information warfighting function and harness the military applications of information in all military operations.

Influence Specialists capabilities are critical to the success of the fleet marine force (FMF) mission, as they enable commanders to shape the information and security environment in their areas of responsibility (AOR).

Prerequisites

Must be a U.S.

citizen.

Must possess a GT score of 100 or higher.

Security requirement: secret security clearance eligibility.

Must have a first class physical fitness test (PFT) and combat fitness test (CFT).

Must be worldwide deployable when approved for lateral move into the 1751 PMOS.

Must obligate to 48 months of service when approved for lateral move into the 1751 PMOS.

Must be a volunteer corporal or sergeant from any MOS.

Sergeants must not be in zone for promotion.

Must attend a psychological operations screening and assessment and receive a recommendation for lateral move from the MOS specialist.

Requirements

Complete the Psychological Operations Qualification Course (POQC) (A05M301), John F.

Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School, Ft Liberty, NC.

Complete the Civil Reconnaissance NCO Course (M02AAPD), Marine Corps Civil-Military Operations School (MCCMOS), Quantico, VA.

Complete the MAGTF Operations in the MAGTF Operations in The Information Environment Specialist (N03F2K1), Expeditionary Warfare Training Group, Atlantic (EWTGLANT), Little Creek, VA.
