1781 - Basic Information Planner

Summary

Formerly known as the 0510 FMOS.

Information Operations Practitioners are focused on the information environment (IE), operational planning and coordination, IE characterization/analysis, and integration of operations.

Duties encompass the supervision of tasking, processing, and dissemination of products related to information advantage; operation security (OPSEC), military deception (MILDEC), cyberspace operations, electronic warfare (EW), special effects, communications strategy and operations (COMMSTRAT), counterintelligence (CI), civil military operations (CMO), and military information support operations (MISO).

Basic Information Planners prepare and issue reports to include target audience analysis reports, technical reports, and summaries.

Prerequisites

Security requirement: active secret security clearance.

Requirements

Complete the MAGTF Operations in the Information Environment Practitioner Course (MOPC) (N03F2G1), Norfolk, VA.

Duties

Develops Information plans and annexes to operations plans for all operations, contingencies and exercises.

Coordinates with representatives of other Information forces on the MAGTF staff.

Acts as a liaison for Information forces that are not organic to the MAGTF troop list.

Advises the commanding officer and operations officer on the conduct of information in order to provide continuity of objectives in the multi-domain space.

Provides subject matter expertise to the development of USMC policy on information consistent with DoD policy.

Provides USMC input to DoD information policy development.

Assists in the development of USMC doctrine on information consistent with USMC policy on IO.
