4403 - Victims Legal Counsel
Summary
Victims Legal Counsel (VLC) provide advice, counseling, and legal representation to eligible individuals who are victims of sexual assault, domestic violence and other qualifying offenses in accordance with 10 U.S.C.
1044, 1044e and 1565b.
VLC are commissioned officers who are licensed attorneys, certified under Article 27(b) and sworn under Article 42(a) of the Uniform Code of Military Justice, and certified by the Staff Judge Advocate to the Commandant of the Marine Corps.
Prerequisites
Must undergo a sensitive screening process.
Must be certified by the SJA to CMC in accordance with 10 U.S.C.
1044e and MCO 5800.16.
Must successfully complete a certification course related to representing victims of sexual assault and other offenses that is approved by the SJA to CMC.
Requirements
Judge Advocate Division, in conjunction with DC M&RA (MMOA), is responsible for assignment of this AMOS.

Duties
May serve in any other MOS 4402 billet.
Judge Advocates with an AMOS of Victims Legal Counsel serve as legal counsel for victims of qualifying offenses and represent them in investigative, administrative, and military justice proceedings.
